Marc Eckstein Md Mph Facep Faems’s Expertise Dr. Eckstein is the founder of Tele911, is the leader in ER diversion. Tele911 integrates telemedicine and patient navigation into the 911/EMS system. Dr. Eckstein served as the Medical Director and Commander of the EMS Bureau of the Los Angeles Fire Department, which is the nation's second busiest EMS provider. He received his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, his Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. Dr. Eckstein received his Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Homeland Security from American Public University in 2007, and he was promoted to become the first Professor and Clinical Scholar in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in 2009. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and was among the first group of physicians to ever be sub-specialty board certified in Emergency Medical Services in 2013. Dr. Eckstein also served as the EMS Division Chief in the Dept. of Emergency Medicine and the EMS Fellowship Director at USC. A former New York City paramedic, he has 35 years of experience in EMS. Dr. Eckstein has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters, and lectures around the world on EMS and disaster preparedness topics. He has implemented several innovative changes in the Los Angeles EMS System, including Standing Field Treatment Protocols, Prehospital 12 lead ECGs, STEMI Receiving Centers, digital waveform capnography, Advanced Provider Response Units (staffed by NPs, PAs, and paramedics) and he implemented his own EMS Dispatch System for the City of Los Angeles in 2015. As the Commander of the LAFD EMS Bureau, he created the LAFD's first Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Unit to address the changing demands of EMS in the City of Los Angeles.
